Videogames have surpassed the film and music industry in market share since 2015. This multi-billion dollar industry has attracted eyes and players across the world that community has fostered a subculture, a competitive environment in which we call eSports. Electronic Sports is a computer-facilitated competition. This all started with a handful of passionate spectators, now stadiums are being filled in with viewers from all over the world, events like the International Intel Extreme Masters, and even the League of Legends World Championships have had huge crowds of famous venues across the world. The viewership for these tournaments rivals the majority of traditional sports. The excitement around eSports has even attracted the attention of major media outlets, major brands pour into this young ecosystem which has already stimulated growth in this industry. Most players and teams have intense training regiments with million-dollar contracts. A player's dedication and passion is their benefit for every spectator, just like any competition, there's adrenaline glory, and even heartbreak.
CS Majors have been one of the most favorite events in eSports. The atmosphere majors bring to the community is just phenomenal. Majors and LAN events have been getting canceled and delayed since the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. ESL One Rio 2020 or Rio 2020, was scheduled to be the sixteenth CS:GO Major Championship but it was also delayed because of the pandemic, it was stated to be a million-dollar major to be held in Rio de Janeiro with twenty-four professional teams from all around the world.
CS Majors Situation After the Pandemic
After the situation with the pandemic finally settled a little bit, Valve decided to conduct two CS:GO Major Championships in 2022.
The first CS:GO major in 2022 was held in Antwerp, Belgium by PGL. It also took place between the ninth of May and the twenty-two of May. As PGL Major Stockholm 2021 was the most successful event in CS:GO history. PGL hosted the first major of 2022. The first CS:GO major in 2022 was held in Antwerp, Belgium by PGL. PGL Major Stockholm 2021 was the most successful event in CS:GO history. PGL hosted the first major of 2022. What's more, PGL will also be hosting the first official CS2 major tournament, which is PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. We have no doubt that PGL will deliver in this tournament and make it one to remember, just as they have consistently been doing in the past.
